The City of Fargo is undertaking an effort to recognize and highlight the work of City employees. As part of each City Commission meeting, Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney is taking time to spotlight one of The City of Fargo’s departments to honor their dedication, hard work and customer service. In highlighting the achievements of departments, The City of Fargo has instituted an honor for City employees called the Fargo Rising Star Award. The award is for employees who have been with The City for seven years or less and have consistently gone above and beyond in their service to residents and visitors.
On Tuesday, May 27, the Mayor presented the award to Evan Olson, an Engineering Tech II who has served in the Engineering Department for two years. During construction season, Evan is a project inspector who visits construction sites to conduct inspections and ensure that projects are adhering to plans and regulations. In the winter, Evan works as a drafter, using software to create technical drawings and blueprints for various Engineering projects.
In selecting Evan for the award, Engineering leadership cited his outstanding attitude, strong work ethic and exceptional initiative. “Evan consistently demonstrates a willingness to take on additional responsibilities. He approaches tasks with careful attention to detail and shows a self-starter mentality,” Mayor Mahoney stated. “Evan’s commitment to public service truly makes him a Fargo Rising Star.”
