UPS announced today it is establishing jet service at Fargo’s Hector International Airport, which will add approximately 70 jobs in Fargo. The decision was driven by several factors, including growing volume and a desire to enhance services to Fargo and the surrounding area.

“The Municipal Airport Authority board is thrilled to welcome UPS to the Fargo-Moorhead community,” said Dr. Virginia Clark, chair, Municipal Airport Authority board. “Their presence will bring many positive impacts to the area, including new jobs, extended drop-off hours for customers, and economic benefits for the airport and the city.”
Under the agreement, UPS will lease operating space in an approximately 13,000-square-foot hangar located in the south general aviation area and approximately 2,000 square feet of office and training space in the east terminal building for an initial period of 3 years.

Flights are scheduled to begin Nov. 5 and will include twice-daily flights of a UPS 757 cargo jet traveling non-stop from Fargo to the company’s main air hub in Louisville, Kentucky. Nine smaller turboprop aircraft will also be based at the Fargo facility, providing service to North Dakota and west central and northwest Minnesota.

“This is fantastic news for the entire Fargo-Moorhead metro,” said Fargo Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney. “The City proudly welcomes UPS jet service to Fargo, and the many new jobs it will bring to our community. This will improve access to services for our businesses and consumers. Today’s announcement reiterates and solidifies Fargo as a top tier metro in the Midwest. My congratulations and appreciation to all involved!”
“Today’s announcement that yet another Fortune 500 company is expanding its presence in Fargo-Moorhead is a testament to the great work that the Municipal Airport Authority does for our community,” said Craig Whitney, president and CEO, Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. “This will not only have a great economic impact, it will benefit our members and the entire community by raising the level of services available to them.”

“As a significant distribution hub, the UPS operation will support existing business and increase our region’s ability to attract new business,” said Joe Raso, President and CEO, Greater Fargo Moorhead EDC, “This exciting project exemplifies the regional collaboration to support the area’s economic growth and vitality. We’re proud to partner with the Fargo Airport Authority, the City of Fargo and the Chamber to bring this to fruition.”
