Due to the number of power outages that commonly occur during the summer months, the Fargo Police Department would like to remind drivers when traffic signals are “dark,” North Dakota Century Code 39-10-22 requires drivers to treat intersections as an all-way stop. A “dark” intersection is any signalized intersection where the indicators (red, yellow and green lights) are not lit. This provision exists to ensure traffic can flow safely even when signals are dark. Drivers are asked to share this important safety message with family, friends and co-workers.
