4th Avenue North Project Overview Map

Project Overview:

This project will include complete roadway reconstruction, water main replacement, sanitary and storm sewer replacement, new street lighting and sidewalks. This stretch of 4th Avenue North, as well as many underground utilities in the area, were installed more than 100 years ago. The road is deteriorating and utilities are breaking, so replacement will minimize impacts and costs.

Impacts:

4th Avenue North will be done in two phases. Phase one of the project will consist of work on 3rd Street North. Crews have approximately three weeks to complete work on 3rd Street North, then will progress through the project working east to west.

Phase two of the project will impact 4th Avenue North from 4th Street North to east of Broadway. Project work for phases one and two will overlap so crews can complete the project on time, closing 4th Avenue North from east of Broadway through the 3rd Street North intersection.

Sidewalks will be maintained for pedestrians and business access during both phases.

There will not be any posted detour routes, but drivers should use side streets to get around the work zone.

Timeline:

Construction efforts began July 13th, 2017 and were put on hold last fall for the duration of the winter season. Work will resume Monday, April 30th, 2018 and is expected to be completed by July 1st of this year.
