The Fargo Police Department will host the 17th Annual Chiefs and Sheriffs Burger Cook-Off today, Tuesday, August 2, 2022. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Main Shelter in Lindenwood Park located at 1905 Roger Maris Drive in Fargo. Participating agencies include Cass County Sheriff Office and Barnesville, Glyndon, Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead Police Departments.

Contestants are tasked with making one burger to be judged on appearance and taste. Judging begins at approximately 11:45 a.m. This year’s judges includes representatives from Sanford Ambulance, The Salvation Army, North Dakota Vision Zero and Minnesota Towards Zero Deaths. The winner of the “Best Burger” is selected and announced by 12 p.m. with a free luncheon to follow. Last year’s winning burger title went to Chief Joseph Backlund of Hawley Police Department in Minnesota.

“We look forward to this fun community event as it is always a great way to draw attention to the Night to Unite festivities in the Red River Valley,” remarked Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski.

Night to Unite, also known as National Night Out (NNO), is a nationwide celebration which takes place on the first Tuesday of August of every year. Night to Unite encourages neighborhoods to join the national celebration and participate in block parties, cookouts, or events to get to know one another and promote community safety.
