The City of Fargo Seeks Volunteer Groups for Adopt-A-Street Program

For over 30 years, volunteers have beautified the community by collecting litter

10/01/2024

Since its launch in 1990, Fargo’s Adopt-A-Street program has empowered volunteers to play a hands-on role in beautifying our community. For over three decades, this initiative has been instrumental in keeping Fargo’s streets and green spaces clean thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers.

Today, approximately 25 volunteer groups actively participate in the Adopt-A-Street program, each taking responsibility for maintaining a designated route. These volunteers regularly clear litter and debris from green spaces, major entrances to the city, select right-of-way areas and high-traffic roads. Each adopted route is approximately two miles long and proudly displays a sign recognizing the group’s contribution to keeping our city looking its best.

The City of Fargo currently has five routes available for adoption:
12th Avenue North from 38th Street North to 57th Street North
40th Avenue North (Cass County Road 20) from the Red River to Old Highway 81
38th Street South from 13th Avenue South to 20th Avenue South
36th Street South from Main Avenue to 13th Avenue South
45th Street South from Interstate 94 to 32nd Avenue South

Local organizations, businesses, neighborhood associations and community groups are encouraged to join in the efforts of enhancing the beauty of Fargo by adopting a route. Participating in the Adopt-A-Street program is a great way to give back, build team camaraderie and take pride in the community. For more information on adopting a street, please contact Melissa Wolf in the Public Works Department at 701.241.8142 or through the City of Fargo website.
