On Tuesday night, we highlighted The City of Fargo’s Engineering Department. This team has a huge hand in shaping the Fargo we know and love. Their work on key infrastructure projects has improved how we get around and how our neighborhoods function.

Thanks to the efforts of the Engineering Department, Fargo continues to grow stronger, smarter and more connected. They are truly some of the architects of our city’s future – from enhancing our roads to managing stormwater projects and traffic systems.

No matter the obstacle – whether it’s a last-minute challenge, unpredictable weather or tight deadlines – our Engineering team will find a solution and keep things moving forward.

It’s critical work, and they handle it with skill and care. Thank you for everything you do for our community.

In highlighting the Engineering Department, we presented the Fargo Rising Star Award to a recipient chosen by the department’s leadership. The award went to Evan Olson, an Engineering Tech 2 who’s served in the Engineering Department for two years.

During the construction season, Evan is a project inspector. He visits construction sites to conduct inspections and ensure that projects are adhering to plans and regulations.

In the winter, Evan is a drafter and uses software to create technical drawings and blueprints for various Engineering projects.

Evan was selected for this award in recognition of his outstanding attitude, strong work ethic and exceptional initiative.

He consistently demonstrates a willingness to take on additional responsibilities. He approaches tasks with careful attention to detail and shows a self-starter mentality.

Congratulations, Evan! Your commitment to public service truly makes you a Fargo Rising Star.
