The library’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, "Color Our World," starts Monday, June 9. This year’s theme celebrates color and creativity and offers a summer filled with engaging stories, weekly special events, performances and activities for all ages – kids, teens and adults. The free program runs through August 23 and anyone can participate by reading, attending events and completing challenges.
Kids and families are invited to jump-start their summer by attending the Color Fun! kickoff on Monday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at the downtown Main Library. Open to kids of all ages, this free event will feature color-themed activities and games including a Mini Color “Run” for kids – with start times at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. Participants in the color run are recommended to wear light-colored clothing for the full color powder effect. Additional activities include: live music; face painting; balloon twisting, and inflatable games. Residents do not need to be registered for the online reading program to attend Fargo Public Library events.
Pre-registration for the Summer Reading Challenge is open online, and readers can join the program anytime until August 23. The program uses Beanstack, an online service for readers of all ages, to log the days they spend reading to earn prizes. Register at fargolibrary.beanstack.org or pick up an official reading log at any Fargo Public Library location beginning June 9; all participants need to register to take part. Paper reading logs will be available; however, patrons are encouraged to use the online format. Visit fargolibrary.org/SummerReadingProgram to learn more and to register.
The Fargo Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Fargo Public Library.
All Fargo Public Library events are free and open to the public. Adults must accompany children ages 9 and younger.
If you need any accommodation in order to participate, we are happy to help to the best of our ability. Please contact the Fargo Public Library at accessibility@fargolibrary.org or call 701.241.1495 at least three business days in advance.
