The City of Fargo’s Human Rights Commission, along with The City Administration Office, is helping to sponsor the annual Juneteenth celebration curated by the community group Fred’s Dissonance. This year’s event on Saturday, June 21, kicks off with an educational series from noon to 3 p.m. at the Black Coffee and Waffle Bar (550 2nd Ave. N.) followed by a community block party and festival from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Broadway Square in Downtown Fargo.
Participants of all backgrounds are invited to take part in this year’s festivities, which will include art, volunteerism, soul food, live performances, a dance party and a scavenger hunt. The event will showcase the talents of local Black and Brown artists. Free food will be available for children 12 and under, and free haircuts will be offered for all ages. Fargo City Hall and the Spirit of the Sandbagger monument will be illuminated in a special light show in celebration of Juneteenth on the evening of Thursday, June 19, 2025.
