The City of Fargo is undertaking an effort to recognize and highlight the work of City employees. As part of each City Commission meeting, Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney is taking time to spotlight one of The City of Fargo’s departments to honor their dedication, hard work and customer service. In highlighting each department, The City of Fargo is honoring a City employee with the Fargo Rising Star Award. The award is for employees who have been with The City for seven years or less and have consistently gone above and beyond in their service to residents and visitors.
On Monday, July 21, the Mayor presented the award to Brenda Sommer who has served The City of Fargo Assessor’s Office for five years. She started as an office associate and was later promoted to the role of residential appraiser.
In selecting Brenda for the award, leadership of the Assessor’s Office cited her proficiency at problem-solving and her willingness to take on any challenge. As a reliable member of the Assessor’s team, she demonstrates excellent customer service and careful attention to detail when working with residents to appraise their property values. “Brenda is a hard-working, conscientious employee who consistently delivers high quality work for the citizens of Fargo,” Mayor Mahoney said. “She is a valued and vital member of the Assessor's team, and we are better because of her.”
