The City of Fargo has invited private developers to submit written proposals for the development, design, construction and operation of a convention center and adjacent private development to be located in Fargo. This will be a public-private partnership, with The City of Fargo financing the convention center and the private developer financing the adjacent private development.
Fargo voters in 2024 passed an additional 3% tax on hotel and motel stays to fund construction of the convention center. The City Commission then formed a 14-member Convention Center Committee that developed a process for the selection of the convention center site and developer of the facility. In Phase 1 of the selection process, nine proposals were received from developers in response to a Request for Proposal (RFP). The Committee invited four developers to submit proposals for Phase 2 of the selection process. Links to the four proposals, submitted ahead of the deadline of 4 p.m. Friday, February 27, are listed below:
• Enclave (Scheels Arena)
• EAPC Architects Engineers (Fargo Civic Center)
• Mutchler Bartram Architects (Brewhalla)
• RLE Architecture Interiors (FARGODOME)
The Convention Center Committee will now review the Phase 2 proposals and present a ranking to the City Commission, which will vote on a final selection. Community members who would like to submit their comments on the proposals can do so at FargoND.gov/ConventionCenterInput from now until 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.
