During Tuesday night's Fargo City Commission meeting, we highlighted a recent community engagement effort led by our Solid Waste and Communications departments.
Earlier this spring, Fargo's Solid Waste Department teamed up with our Communications staff to bring residents into the fold with a simple idea: let residents name Fargo garbage trucks. More than 200 submissions came in from those eager to put their stamp on the fleet. The Solid Waste Department narrowed the list down to ten finalists, opened it up for public voting and let the people decide. Three names made the cut — and they're now riding through neighborhoods across the city.

- Bin Diesel
- Truck Norris
For young Fargo residents just starting to learn about their community, seeing a named truck roll down their street is a pretty cool experience. Solid Waste crews see kids on their route every day who are fascinated with the equipment, and this contest has put a bit more fun into that experience for all ages.
