The City of Fargo to Test Emergency Sirens on Thursday, July 2

Residents may hear brief daytime siren activations as crews test and repair individual outdoor warning sirens

07/01/2026

Following today’s regular monthly test of Fargo's outdoor warning sirens, crews will re-test individual sirens on Thursday, July 2, and make any needed repairs. As part of this work, some sirens will sound briefly during daytime hours on Thursday. Residents who hear brief siren activations during this period do not need to take shelter, unless there is an actual emergency. These activations are part of the planned maintenance and are not emergency alerts.

How to Stay Informed
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Cass Clay Alerts, a free emergency notification system that sends important alerts directly to your phone or email. Register at FargoND.gov/CassClayAlerts.

The City of Fargo’s Office of Emergency Management also encourages residents to have a NOAA All-Hazards Weather Radio that provides dependable indoor emergency alerts, even if cellphone service or power is disrupted. Models with Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) technology can be programmed to receive alerts for the local area.

If residents are ever unsure whether a siren activation is a test, maintenance activity, or real emergency, they should move indoors and check:
• Cass Clay Alerts notifications
• Local media outlets for guidance from local officials, including information from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
• Official City of Fargo communication channels
