The City Commission voted 5-0 on Monday, Sept. 28, to approve a balanced 2027 Budget for the City of Fargo. The budget maintains funding for essential City services while making targeted investments in public safety, core infrastructure, utilities and the City’s workforce to better serve our growing community. The 2027 Budget also intentionally sets aside funds for Fargo’s reserves, strengthening the City’s financial position and providing greater flexibility to address future needs.
The 2027 budget process began earlier this year with a comprehensive review of City revenues, departmental requests and community priorities. The City Commission held a three-day budget workshop in July. The sessions were open to the public and streamed online, with budget materials made available for review. Additionally, a Sept. 14 public hearing gave residents an opportunity to comment on the proposed budget before the Commission took final action.
“I want to thank our City staff, residents, community partners and my fellow Commissioners for all the hard work that went into this budget,” Mayor Josh Boschee said. “Through collaboration, compromise and community engagement, we have achieved a fiscally responsible blueprint for Fargo's future – one that continues to provide the vital infrastructure and services our residents rely on every day."
