“The Birth of Loud” explores American innovation through the invention of the electric guitar and its monumental musical impact. The story follows Leo Fender, a radio repairman, and Les Paul, a musician, as they compete to design the ultimate electric guitar. Their rivalry would lead to instruments that revolutionized post-WWII music in the States and across the world. This true tale of American ingenuity showcases the originality, tenacity and spirit this country has been known for since its founding 250 years ago.
Port’s visit is sponsored in partnership by the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo public libraries, Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Livingston Lord Library, Concordia College’s Carl B. Ylvisaker Library, North Dakota State University Libraries, Clay County Historical Society and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra.
