Convention Center Committee
During the November 2024 election, Fargo voters approved an additional 3% tax on hotel and motel stays, with the proceeds financing the construction of a convention center. The City Commission formed a Convention Center Committee to create and manage a Request for Proposal (RFP) process for the selection of a convention center project. The RFP was distributed to parties interested in entering a partnership with The City of Fargo to build a convention center and other amenities. Following the submission period, the Committee reviewed the proposals and presented a recommendation to the City Commission.
Records of the Convention Center Committee's meetings can be found here: Convention Center Committee Agendas & Minutes.
The Convention Center Committee includes all five City Commission members and nine other members.

Due Diligence Phase
The Fargo City Commission voted 4-1 on April 27, 2026, to advance two convention center proposals – Brewhalla and Fargo Civic Center – into a due diligence phase. This phase will include comprehensive analysis of both proposals, with a focus on their financial operating plans and long-term feasibility.
The City Commission voted to direct City staff to begin detailed evaluations of the top two proposals. The City Commission is ultimately expected to identify a convention center project that will be a public-private partnership, with The City of Fargo financing the convention center and the selected developer financing the adjacent private development.
