Library Board Orientation Committee Minutes for Tuesday February 25th 4 p.m. held in the Main Library.

Committee Members Present: Rachael Steenholdt, Mary Batcheller, Whitney Oxendahl, Jan Ulferts Stewart
Staff: Tim Dirks

President, Rachael Steenholdt called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM

Order of Agenda:
A motion was made by Mary Batcheller to approve the Order of the Agenda. Jan Ulferts Stewart seconded the motion; motion carried.

Approve Minutes of January 28th Meeting:
A motion was made by Mary Batcheller to approve the minutes of the January 28th meeting. Jan Ulferts Stewart seconded the motion; motion carried

Old Business:
Review of Current & Potential Orientation Elements:

A motion was made by Jan Ulferts Stewart that the American Library Association’s Public Library Trustee Ethics Statement be made a part of the orientation packet and reviewed and affirmed by the whole board on an annual basis as part of the board’s annual meeting. Racheal Steenholdt seconded the motion; motion carried.

The committee identified the following additional items for the first draft orientation packet:
• Letter Per the Board President/Director
• Grid of Responsibilities
• Introduction/Specific Elements from ND Public Library Trustee Manual
• Endowment Fund Paragraph
• Organizational Timeline
• Professional Bio of Director
• Elements from Kentucky/Nebraska Documents
