
Dr. James Carlson Library Renovation Project
Project Overview/ Details
The Dr. James Carlson Library branch building opened to the public in November 2007. Since then, the library has not undergone any major cosmetic updates. This branch will soon begin a renovation project designed to enhance patrons' library experience. These updates focus on improving accessibility within the space, expanding collections, and updating service desks for work flow.
Improvements to the Dr. James Carlson Library branch include:
• Replace worn flooring and carpet
• Update the interior paint scheme
• Add expanded shelving
• Upgrade services desks
• Dedicated children's tech desks

Timeline for the project
The Dr. James Carlson Library branch renovation project is expected to start in the fall of 2026 with expected completion in early 2027.
Support for the project
The project is being financed through the library's endowment fund and private donations raised through the Friends of the Fargo Public Library.
